OPEN ENROLLMENT LOTTERY

TMSA will be conducting our Open Enrollment lottery Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 10:00 a.m., in the chapel of College Park First United Methodist Church. Parents of prospective applicants are not required to attend. Notices will be sent to all families of their child(ren)’s acceptance by March 15, 2012 or wait list status by April 15, 2012.

Our lottery process is an electronic system that will produce a random number generator in determining the selection order. Currently, we have received 122 applications for the Kindergarten grade level with 34 seats available. Because we received more applications than seats available, all applicants received during Open Enrollment will be placed in a lottery. We currently have 0 seats available in grade levels 1st - 8th due to a 97% return rate of our current student body. All applications received for these grade levels will be placed in a lottery to determine the ordered wait-list for those grade levels. We are optimistic that seats could become available should a family transition out of our school.

Enrollment Preferences:
Based on our Charter Application and Georgia State Law, enrollment preferences will be given to: 1) a sibling of a student enrolled in the school 2) a student whose parent or guardian is a member of the governing board of the charter school or is a full-time teacher, professional or other employee at the charter school

Age requirements:
Students entering Kindergarten need to be age five (5) or older prior to September 1. Students entering 1st grade need to be age six (6) or older prior to September 1.

ENROLLMENT
For students currently enrolled and returning to TMSA in the fall, Intent to Return forms were sent home in backpacks on Wednesday, January 11 and must be returned by Monday, January 23 to hold your child’s seat for the 2012-2013 school year. Siblings of returning students who wish to enroll for the 2012-2013 school year should also enroll during this pre-enrollment period.

For new students who wish to enroll for the 2012-2013 school year, Open Enrollment will be February 6-10. Prior to the first day of Open Enrollment, TMSA will provide the number of seats available in Open Enrollment for each grade. For each grade with seats available, all students who submit the necessary paperwork during Open Enrollment will receive an equal opportunity to attend TMSA. You must be a Fulton County resident districted for Fulton County Schools in order to apply.

During the Open Enrollment period, for each grade with seats available, if we receive more applications than spots available for a particular grade, a lottery will be held for the available seats (exact date to be determined).

We will continue to enroll after the Open Enrollment period on a first come, first served basis. Once any particular grade is considered full then a numbered wait list will begin and continue through the start of the 2012-2013 school year. If the applications received during the Open Enrollment period for a particular grade do not exceed the number of available seats, all students will be accepted. All families will be notified in writing of acceptance or placement on the wait list.
